A new Citi 60K offer is back – the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® and the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard®. The bonuses on these cards oscillate from 40,000 to 60,000 – I just found out recently that the bonus is back up to 60,000 points for a limited time only. Both of these Citi 60K offers give out 60,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles after spending $3000 in the first 3 months and have an annual fee of $95; waived the first year
I have updated our page of top credit card offers – and you can find both of those offers there.
As always, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A CREDIT CARD JUST BECAUSE SOME GUY ON THE INTERNET SAID YOU SHOULD
Benefits of the Citi 60K offer
I’d imagine the biggest benefit of the Citibank 60K AA offer is the 60K American AAdvantage miles, which you’ll get after spending $3000 in the first 3 months.
You do also get a free checked bag on domestic American Airlines itineraries for you and up to four companions traveling with you on the same reservation.
Both cards gives double miles on AA purchases and the business card also gives double miles on purchases at telecommunications, car rental merchants and at gas stations.
There are also a few ancillary benefits of the Citi 60,000 offer that aren’t nearly as exciting such as no foreign transaction fees, 25% discount on in-flight food / drink purchases and preferred boarding on American.
Probably the best part of the cards that are part of this Citi 60K offer is that they give a 10% rebate on REDEEMED miles. So let’s say you spend the $3000 and get the 60,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles and redeem them for an award. You’ll then get 6,000 (10%) of those miles back. This is up to a limit of 100,000 redeemed miles and a 10,000 mile rebate.
Who is eligible for the Citi 60K offer?
Both of these cards in the Citibank 60K offer have the dreaded Citi 24 month language
American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have had any Citi® / AAdvantage® card (other than a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card) opened or closed in the past 24 months.
So if you’ve had ANY Citi AAdvantage card opened or closed in the past 24 months, you won’t get the bonus miles on this card and it’s not really worth applying.
The business card is targeted to and does require you have a business, though you may have a business even if you don’t really THINK you have one.
What do you guys think? Will you be applying for the Citi 60K AA offer while it’s at its highest offer?
