One of the perks of having an American Express Platinum Card is having access to American Express Concierge Service. According to American Express:
All around the world, you can call on these knowledgeable and ever-helpful professionals to source tickets for sport and entertainment, arrange the purchase and delivery of gifts or flowers, and secure restaurant reservations for you.

When it comes to getting tickets to entertainment events such as concerts or Broadway shows, I always think of Amex Concierge first. Here’s why.
4 Reasons why I love using American Express Concierge for Broadway tickets:
- They can get you into shows with hard-to-get tickets, such as Hamilton. Amex Concierge was able to get me 3rd Row orchestra seats to Hamilton in NYC.
- No additional fees as charged by Ticketmaster or Telecharge
- Special access to shows or performances reserved only for Amex cardholders (they did this for Hamilton in Chicago)
Well, that was only three reasons, right? What’s the fourth reason? Here’s what happened:
Early in January, I worked with Amex Platinum Concierge and was able to get two mezzanine level seats to the upcoming Broadway musical, Frozen. These are very hard-to-get tickets. There were no tickets available with Ticketmaster, and Amex reached out to Stubhub for these tickets priced at $190 each ($380 total). Stubhub is best known for being an after-market ticket reseller.
This was the receipt from Amex:
The tickets were to be sent via UPS no later than January 19. As of January 23, I’ve not yet received the tickets and called Amex for a status. The Concierge service couldn’t reach the 3rd party seller linked to Stubhub. Amex offered that we wait to hear back from the seller; or check what similar or better seats Stubhub could offer at NO EXTRA CHARGE. Uhhhhh……..no brainer. Bam!!!
Here’s the fourth reason
You can often get a FREE upgrade to similar or better seats at NO EXTRA COST
Long story short, I ended up with two Center Orchestra Level seats. The selling price was over $400 each, or over $800 for two tickets. My price? Same price. I was not charged anything extra. How about that for an excellent perk with the American Express Platinum Card? Thank you, Amex. Here’s the revised receipt:
These 4 reasons make me use Amex Concierge whenever possible. Whenever I think of getting access to Broadway shows, especially the ones that are difficult to get, I use the American Express Concierge service.
