The Barclay Arrival Plus is one of my go-to cards for everyday spend. 2 Barclay Arrival miles for every dollar spent is similar to earnings you’d get from a 2% cashback card, so if you’re not meeting the spending requirement for a new card, this is one of the top cards in my wallet.
Plus, it has a chip and pin feature, which makes it super useful if you’re traveling to places like Europe where in many cases those are required for automatic kiosks like train ticket purchases.
Barclays Arrival Plus card pausing signups
View from the Wing is reporting that he recently spoke with Barclay’s Vice President for Media and Public Relations who shared that Barclays is considering some changes to their lending portfolio and in the meantime is pulling the Arrival Plus card down from receiving new signups. It is not clear to me when signups for the Arrival Plus will be coming down nor when (or IF!) they’ll be coming back.
Barclays removed signups for the Arrival Plus card once before, back in March 2018, before announcing the Barclay Arrival Premier card. So if past history is any indication, I wouldn’t expect signups for the Arrival Plus to be removed forever, but if you had been planning on getting the Arrival Plus for some upcoming expenses, you might want to consider getting it soon.
