(UPDATE 11/5: Reposting this as the 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy point offer is scheduled to expire tomorrow, Wednesday November 6th)
Chase and American Express are partnering with the new Marriott Bonvoy brand to bring us 3 new credit cards now, with one on the way! AmEx will be issuing the Bonvoy Business and Bonvoy Brilliant, while Chase will be issuing the Bonvoy Boundless.
I know that all sounds like a bunch of gibberish, but let’s break it down.
The former Marriott Rewards Premier Plus from Chase is now the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless. With the new card, Chase has released a 100,000 Bonvoy point welcome offer. Here are the details:
- 100,000 Bonvoy points after $3,000 spending in your first 3 months of card ownership
- $95 annual fee
- 6x Marriott Rewards on Marriott and SPG stays, 2x everything else
- Free in-room internet
- 15 Elite night credit annually as long as you hold the card (does not stack with other SPG/Marriott card elite credits)
- Silver Elite status
- Earn Gold Elite status with $30,000 or more in purchases in a calendar year
- Free hotel night each year after renewal, up to 35,000 points
Should you sign up for the Chase Bonvoy Boundless Card?
A 100,000 point offer for a $95 annual fee is about as high as the old Chase Marriott Premier Plus often went to. If you do need some Marriott points, and want to open a new card, then the AmEx Bonvoy Business card is a better candidate, in my opinion. As long as you open the card by March 28th, 2019, you’ll have a $0 annual fee for the first year, and have the opportunity to earn 100,000 Bonvoy points, for only an additional $2,000 spend in the first 3 months. Lower fee. More points. If that’s not a win-win, I don’t know what is!

I recommend holding out on this card for a higher offer (hopefully) in the next year. Besides, Chase will be bringing a no fee personal card to the Bonvoy brand this summer, we just don’t know what it looks like yet. What features do you think the no fee card will have? I’d love to see the ability to spend for elite status, the same 15 night elite credit, and some better bonus categories!
